Pam Christie and Mark Hitchcock are the principals of the company and have lived in Papua New Guinea based in Port Moresby for 15 years, which gives them a wide knowledge and understanding of local conditions, customs and traditions. Pam is the head guide and takes most of our expeditions. Nikki George has just come on board as a lead guide. Nikki was one of Australia’s top dive instructors and after her first Kokoda with us in 2004 she has swapped her fins for trekking boots. Nikki is a WW11 buff and is extremely knowledgeable on Kokoda. She spent 10 days last year exploring the track and knows where all the hidden ammunition pits and WW11 artifacts are situated off the track.
PNG Trekking Adventures (PNGTA) approaches adventures in PNG on a personal level, focusing on the individual experience for our guests. Treks are limited to ten people so you enjoy a more exclusive journey where you are an individual and not just part of a large group. The exception to this is if it is a corporate/club or group of friends then we do not limit the numbers. Our focus is on active adventure travel, getting out there and experiencing the “Land of the Unexpected” and most importantly of all having fun.
Our treks suit active open minded people of all ages who have a flexible approach to travel. None of our treks are marathon events, they are rewarding holidays. Of course, as with all outdoor activities, the fitter you are and the more you take your time, the more you will enjoy the experience.

PNG is one of the world’s most interesting tourist destinations owing to its history, diverse cultures and languages, pristine underwater world, dense tropical rainforests, unique and exotic plants, flowers, trees, birds and wildlife.
PNG is truly “last frontier” territory and nowhere is this description more fitting than in its rugged interior with its dense tropical jungles, high intervening mountains, deep valleys and gorges and fast flowing rivers and a people whose lives have not been heavily impacted by civilization.

Our trip dates are not set in stone. We are flexible and will do our very best to work with
you so you are able to join us on one of our treks. Any last minute changes are announced in our forum calendar.
Safety is a primary concern this is why we use local guides and porters, some of who are reserve policeman. Our training and experience in trekking and alpine climbing along with our understanding of local conditions ensures that safety is up most priority at all times.
We have also just added to our itinerary Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and plan to take our first expedition up that mountain later in 2006.
